Aprehend: Biological Bed Bug Control That Keeps Working After We Leave

A fungal spray that kills bed bugs on contact — and continues killing for up to 3 months.

What Is Aprehend?

Aprehend is an EPA-registered biopesticide made from a naturally occurring fungus — Beauveria bassiana — that is lethal to bed bugs. When a bed bug walks through the treated area, it picks up the spores. The spores penetrate the bed bug's exoskeleton and kill it within 3-7 days. Bed bugs that come into contact with infected bugs are also killed, spreading the effect through the colony. Unlike traditional chemical treatments, Aprehend continues working for up to 3 months after application.

How Aprehend Biological Treatment Works

Watch this short video to see the science, application, and results of this treatment method.

How the Process Works

1

We inspect your space to confirm infestation scope and location.

2

We apply Aprehend in targeted areas where bed bugs travel and hide.

3

Bed bugs contact the treated surfaces and carry the fungal spores back to their harborages.

4

The spores spread through the population, killing bed bugs over 3-7 days.

5

Residual protection continues for up to 3 months post-application.

May Not Be the Best Fit:

  • •Severe or long-standing infestations
  • •Clients who want the fastest possible single-treatment resolution

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Aprehend safe for people and pets?

Yes. Beauveria bassiana is a naturally occurring fungus. It is not harmful to humans, pets, or other mammals. It targets insects specifically.

How long before I see results?

Bed bugs die within 3-7 days of contact with the treated areas. The full effect on the population develops over 1-2 weeks as the spores spread through the colony.

Does Aprehend replace heat treatment?

In some cases, yes. In others — particularly severe infestations — we recommend combining them. That's our Hybrid Treatment.

How long does the residual protection last?

Up to 3 months. This makes Aprehend a strong option for ongoing prevention in high-risk environments.
